Since, from the other Y!A Questions in your Profile, you seem to be the “under age 18″ child in question, I’d ask you why would you bother to even get an e-cigarette to “use” without nicotine drops?

All tobacco and smokeless tobacco/nicotine delivery “systems” are regulated by the FDA (since April of this year) and other federal laws, and so children under-18 can’t purchase them or the liquid refills.

Local communities may have ordinances or state laws that classify e-cigs as “smoking paraphernalia” and thus subject to fines or confiscation if possessed by a minor.

Operators in the Small Specialty Retail Stores industry sell very diverse products, from premium cigars to sketch pads. IBISWorld industry analyst Eben Jose says that Due to its fragmented nature, the industry is driven not by product-specific trends but rather by broad changes in consumer sentiment and household disposable income. Since the recession, these macroeconomic drivers have taken a negative turn, causing US consumers to cut back on purchasing industry products. As a result, IBISWorld estimates that revenue will decrease at an average annual rate of 3.6% over the five years to 2012 to total $ 24.7 billion. In line with the recession, the steepest declines occurred in 2008 and 2009, when revenue fell 9.7% and 7.5%, respectively. However, as the economy began its recovery and consumers began spending again, the revenue contraction decelerated, falling 2.5% in 2010 and increasing 0.8% in 2011. IBISWorld expects this upward momentum to carry into 2012.

In addition to poor spending conditions, increased external competition has further weakened industry demand. As the economy gains traction in its recovery, industry revenue is projected to increase from 2012 to 2013. A rise in disposable income will likely encourage consumers to increase spending on quality products sold by industry operators. However, such growth will be temporary, as the competition from external industries like department stores and e-commerce websites will likely continue to erode demand. Ok, so i’ve been reading about this E Cigarettes and I haven’t seen this question, eventhough it is the one that bubbles my brain the most. So a full flavor E Cigarette has 16mg nicotine. Ok… Wel.. But is this correct? Because, I read that a Marlboro RED cigarette which is not considered a smooth or light cigarette, has 1.0mg nicotine. So how is this possible? How can an E Cigarette have so much nicotine. Could somebody clear this up for me please? I mean, I know and understand that “supposively” an E Cigarette provides over 150 puffs. Compared to a normal cigarette, but is the 16mg of nicotine spraed out evenly over the 150 puffs? Or is it just this big heavy dizzy hitting nicotine hit everytime you take a puff? I’m a daily smoker, and I smoke decent amount of cigarettes everyday, and even then, sometimes if you take too big of a puff from a cigarette, it’ll dizzy you out. That’s 1.0mg nicotine. Now, what would a 16mg nicotine hit do to me? Or even a better question, to somebody who’s not used to nicotine.
I’m not trying 2 stop smoking.. My question was a simple one, and that website didn’t help, but Thanks.

A Vietnam veteran was left with horrific injuries after an electronic cigarette blew up in his mouth, knocking out all his teeth and part of his tongue.

Tom Holloway, 57, of Niceville, Florida, screamed as the device exploded and debris melted everything it touched as it flew around a room at home.

The battery in the cigarette ignited and firemen said the father-of-three was therefore essentially ‘holding a bottle rocket in his mouth’.

Mr Holloway had been smoking electronic cigarettes for around two years and took them up after he began suffering lung problems.

‘A super nice guy,’ neighbour Wendy Jensen told ABC affiliate WEAR. ‘He’s had some health problems with his lungs and so he quit smoking.’

‘It’s horrible,’ Ms Jensen told WEAR of the suffering of Mr Holloway, who is also a photographer. ‘We were just up all night thinking about it.’

Authorities have reported the incident to a U.S. database and are now investigating whether such an accident has ever happened before.
